Lapas Verdes (Guacamayos) in Tortuguero
Green macaws inhabit the forests of Tortuguero National Park, as well as other Caribbean regions of Costa Rica. Green macaws are among the largest macaw species in the world, especially among the four heaviest species. It is one of two species of macaws that inhabit Costa Rica, the other being the scarlet macaw. They feed on seeds and fruits found in trees and bushes in the park's forests and wetlands, and are easily recognized by their sound (shouting) as well as their slow, deliberate flight, and they often fly in pairs .
